Research · this archive's neighborhood
Where the evidence actually lives.
This archive is a synthesis, not a primary source. The specialist forums, long-run archives, and trail organizations below are where original documentation, serial registries, and first-hand memory are kept — and where an owner or restorer should go next. Every forum claim used in this archive is attributed to its member and thread, never silently promoted to fact.
Military / WWII specialist
The leading specialist community for WWII-era military Jeeps. Runs a dedicated Jeep History Research section and a long-running crowd-sourced MB/GPW serial-number registry (serial, date-of-delivery, and body-tub number) that this archive draws on directly.
CJ-3B / world-Jeep specialist
Created and maintained by Derek Redmond since 1996 — one of the oldest continuously-run single-model Jeep reference sites on the web. Its country-by-country "Jeeps around the world" section is the backbone of this archive's licensed-production research.
General enthusiast forum
The largest general Jeep enthusiast forum, with dedicated boards for rare Jeeps, rare options, and prototype/future-model discussion. Crowd-sourced rare-variant leads are recorded here as attributed member claims, not promoted to fact without corroboration.
Wagoneer / Gladiator (SJ) specialist
Dedicated to SJ-platform Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, full-size Cherokee, and Gladiator/J-series owners. Source for the 1963 Wagoneer independent-front-suspension option and the dash-compass correction on the rare-and-significant page. A separate International Full Size Jeep Association (ifsja.org) serves the same community and is not yet independently reviewed here.
Wrangler specialist forum
A dedicated Wrangler community across YJ, TJ, JK, and JL generations — not yet deeply mined in this research pass.
Event / trail organization
The organization whose 1953 first run put 55 Willys Jeeps across the Rubicon River and made the Rubicon Trail a Jeep-culture landmark — directly the reason Jeep later named its most serious off-road trim "Rubicon".
Event / club organization
The Moab, Utah club that has organized the Easter Jeep Safari since 1982, when permit and regulatory requirements outgrew the local Chamber of Commerce's capacity to run it.
